Regulations for the Selection of Fellows of the Physical Society of Taiwan

  1. The Physical Society selects new fellows from members who have contributed outstanding research to acknowledge their academic achievements each year.
  2. Membership of the Physical Society lasts for a period of three years. Members can be nominated as candidate fellows by more than two fellows or more than five members. Documents needed for nomination as a fellow are as follows:
    1. Recommendation form (one copy)
    2. Brief introduction to research specialties and academic achievements (three copies)
    3. Publication list and one to five representative publications (three copies).
    4. Personal profile (three copies).
  3. Documents submitted by nominees will be sent to researchers in related fields by the selection committee convener for initial review. After initial review, the nominees should provide written or oral report to the selection committee. After voting by the selection committee and agreement to recommend to the board of directors by two-thirds of the members present, the list of fellows are finalized by the board of directors.
  4. The number of fellows selected every year will not exceed 1% of the total number of members. If no candidates are qualified, then no fellows are selected. The number of fellows will not exceed 5% of the total members.
  5. The deadline for submitting nominations is September 30 of each year. The list of fellows will be announced during the annual meeting of the next year. Elected fellows will be awarded fellowship certificates with the reasons for award listed. The reasons will be published in the Physical Society's website and E-Letter.
  6. The selection committee is comprised of members of the Physical Society. The total number of members living in Taiwan will be the base number. A meeting can only be held if more than 40% of the members living in Taiwan are present. Before the deadline for nominations of candidate fellows (August 31), the Physical Society will determine the total number of members living in Taiwan.
  7. The selection committee convener shall be selected from the members of the committee and serves a term of three years. The convener can be re-elected. The duties of a convener are to summon the meeting of fellow selection committee and manage selection affairs.
  8. Other details undetermined by the regulations should be determined by the academic committee and reported to the board of directors for implementation.
  9. These regulations and future amendments will be implemented by the board of directors after ratification.
